Eminem – Tone Deaf Official Lyric Video

Description

Following the success of the Godzilla Music Video, Interscope hired us to direct and produce the official lyric video for Eminem’s Tone Deaf track from his album Music To Be Murdered By – Side B.

This track addressed “cancel culture”, an issue faced by Eminem many times during his career. The video was released in March 2021 when the #canceleminem movement was at a peak. Because of this the video became a news item on many platforms including Rolling Stones.

The video also has several unique features. It includes 30 Easter Eggs, which is a speciality in Randy’s work.

Watch Crypt the rapper catching most of the Easter Eggs from the Eminem Tone Deaf Official Music Video.

It features a font specifically designed for this video. The font is designed with weapons that were used in the official cover photos of the MTBMB Albums.

And because the video story is narrated in a jumbled timeline, we featured a timeline-guide on the video. This is probably the only popular music video to have a time-line guide, so far.

The animated project was created entirely on Adobe After Effects. The project manipulated a total of 68,000+ layers. The technical feat of handling such complicated projects is one of Randy’s super powers! 😉

The video was project was completed in 25 days. Randy maintained a vlog-of-sorts during the process. Watch it here.

We also did more than a few looks for Eminem

Finally Eminem decided to go with this (below) and said he wants both Opt 1 and Opt 2 interchanging. So we assigned the no-pupils version for when Eminem was more “Slim Shady” and “doing the evil” in the video. We used the with-pupils version for the scenes that were more “Eminem-going-about-his-life”.
